Job Overview
The Head of Incubation will be responsible for the design, execution, and continuous improvement of the incubation program for tech startups. The role requires a balance of strategic planning, operational execution, and direct engagement with founders.
Particular focus will be on scouting and onboarding headhunted startups, especially in high-impact verticals such as industrial automation, cybersecurity, and fintech. The Head of Incubation will play a key role in driving startup success through structured coaching, community building, and collaboration with key stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Startup Selection and Onboarding
- Develop and implement rigorous selection criteria to identify promising early-stage startups with strong growth potential.
- Proactively scout and headhunt startups in targeted verticals (industrial automation, cybersecurity, fintech) to enrich the program pipeline.
- Lead the evaluation and onboarding process, ensuring startups receive essential orientation, resources, and integration support.
- Program Development and Delivery
- Collaborate with the Project Director to design and execute incubation programs aligned with startup needs and industry trends.
- Manage the incubation curriculum, including workshops, mentorship tracks, and guest speaker sessions from industry leaders.
- Recruit, onboard, and manage domain experts, facilitators, and instructors with relevant expertise.
- Startup Coaching and Mentorship
- Provide one-on-one and group coaching to startups on key business areas including market validation, product development, business model refinement, fundraising, and team building.
- Facilitate targeted connections with mentors, investors, and corporate partners to accelerate growth.
- Monitor and track startup progress against defined milestones, offering actionable insights and guidance.
- Community Building and Engagement
- Foster a collaborative, supportive environment that encourages peer-to-peer learning and resource sharing among startups.
- Organize networking events, demo days, and engagement activities to connect startups with potential investors, industry stakeholders, and customers.
- Cultivate a program culture that is dynamic, motivating, and focused on founder success.
- Data Analysis and Program Improvement
- Collect, analyze, and report data on startup progress, program effectiveness, and participant feedback.
- Continuously refine curriculum design and program delivery based on data-driven insights.
- Develop reports, dashboards, and case studies to highlight program outcomes, impact, and success stories.
- Collaboration and Communication
- Work closely with the Project Director, department heads, and program staff to ensure seamless coordination and program delivery.
- Provide timely program updates and impact reports to stakeholders including investors, partners, and mentors.
- Anticipate challenges, troubleshoot issues, and provide timely support to participating startups.
Key Skills & Requirements
- Familiarity with data analysis tools: Proficiency in Google Sheets. The ability to build and interpret data dashboards.
- Startup Ecosystem Knowledge: Understanding of startup ecosystem fundamentals (funding stages, product lifecycles, venture capital, accelerators/incubators)
- Familiarity with Salesforce or other comparable sales CRM analytics and metrics will give an edge in understanding startup growth strategies.
- Experience in evaluating tech startups for investment or incubation potential.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to mentor and guide aspiring entrepreneurs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
