LMKT and BARQAAB Consulting Services will map Quetta Electric Supply Company’s key network assets and survey its distribution system to calculate the distribution losses.
As part of the project, which was agreed June 28, LMKT and BARQAAB will improve QESCO’s existing mapping and analysis function by doing a complete digitized mapping of (33kv and 11kV) through ArcGIS software. This will involve carrying out a pole to pole field survey on a GPS device and identifying the location of key network assets in the distribution system, such as transformers. The information will then be transferred for power flow analysis and the calculation of technical losses in the system using SynerGEE.
“We believe that this project will help enhance the efficiency of QESCO’s network,” said LMKT’s Vice President GIS, R&D, Haroon Sharif. He also reiterated LMKT’s belief that technology companies can play an important part in resolving Pakistan’s energy crisis.
Under the project, QESCO will also be provided with a secure data access mechanism for viewing and analyzing data visually. LMKT and BARQAAB will also carry out capacity building exercises of QESCO staff to ensure sustainability of the entire project.
