National Incubation Center Karachi and The Asia Foundation launched the Impact Collective initiative on 30th September 2022 to fight the Climate Change crisis. The consortium aims to be a united platform for climate action by Pakistan. More than 20 organizations have partnered with LMKT in this initiative including academia, think tanks, civil society, and entrepreneur support organizations.
The initiative aims to empower academic institutions in researching climate change on a grassroot level. The session featured a panel of experts including Durlabh Ashok, Afia Salam, Dr. Noman Ahmad. Farva Minhas, Farhan Anwar. The esteemed panel talked about the importance of research and technology in the fight against climate change.
Speaking about the initiative, CEO LMKT, Atif Rais Khan said,
“Climate Change and its resulting calamities are a reality for the world. It is the duty of every citizen, corporation and innovation-driven enterprise to step-up and help humanity get through these difficult times. Impact Collective is an effort to help build better processes and solutions to manage and mitigate the adverse effects of climate change in Pakistan as well as other developing nations.”
The Asia Foundation will now award research grants to three members of the Impact Collective, to conduct research on the impending climate crises that Pakistan is currently facing.
During the event, LMKT committed an amount of one million PKR to The Citizens Foundation (TCF) for the displaced flood-affected families.
